The Reality Of Liposuction Risks

The stories that stick in the mind from the news are often the most negative ones, and so many people may recall the deaths liposuction risk the media has reported at times. Liposuction is basically a contouring procedure. It is not designed to remove a lot of fat.

The risks associated with any surgery that can happen with liposuction as well, include infection, a reaction to the anaesthetic, blood clots, and toxic shock. Other potential complications associated with liposuction include fluid in the lungs (tumescent liposuction), burns (ultrasound liposuction), perforation in the bowel or other organs (poor surgical technique), lasting nerve damage, embolism (where fat that is loosened during the technique enters ruptured blood vessels and the circulatory system), persistent swelling, brown spots on the skin, a lumpy, irregular appearance, or heavy bleeding.

Liposuction risks are generally low, providing a good surgeon is chosen. The things that increase the risks of liposuction include the removal of too much fat (more than 10 pounds), and poor monitoring after taking ou8t too much fat. Other problems can arise when too much fluid or anaesthetic is used during the session. And having more than one type of cosmetic procedure done at once will also increase the potential risk. Of course, those people whose health is not that great - perhaps they have diabetes or some other condition, are at greater risk than a healthy person.
