Does Avon Cellulite Cream Really Work?
Avon cellulite cream seems to make some strong claims - that within 2 to 4 weeks there will be a noticeable difference in your cellulite. And some women report losing an inch. So what's really going on here? Has someone at Avon discovered a 'cure' for cellulite?
The picture is naturally a little more complex than that. If you do any reading on the internet, or talk to people, you may come across those that swear by it, and those that think its' no better than cooking oil. Although even those that bring up cooking oil do concede that it feels and smells better!
At one end of the spectrum, you have comments like this:
"I just read a review in Good Housekeeping and they said Avon's product is the best one and showed results on their testers. They had the women just put it on one leg for four weeks and could see a difference. I'll keep using it and see what happens. Thanks."
and -
"I've tried this and after 3 weeks had lost 1" off my thighs, and the cellulite was noticeably improved. I'm sure its still there, but it looked better, which is great for summer."
And then comments like this:
"I'd be willing to bet that this is the same thigh cream that was all the rage back in the early 90's. Expensive as all get out, and didn't work worth a hoot for most women. Of course, everything comes back again...people forget that it didn't work the first time around...just that a lot of folks bought the stuff."
and this -
"I purchased it and didn't see much in the results. I told my Avon Rep if it worked, I'd buy tons of bottles to put over my whole body - hehe!! But think you're supposed to put it on like right when you want it tightened up and I take my showers at night and then sometimes I forget to put it on - so maybe I'm just not consistent enough putting it on. I just didn't see anything miraculous about it though. I have to admit though, for $15, the bottle is pretty large."

Making Sense Of The Mixed Reviews
- Understanding What Avon Cellulite Cream Does
If used correctly, you can in fact lose up to an inch using Avon's cellulite cream. As well as the beneficial massage action they recommend (you massage the cream into your problem areas for 5 minutes twice a day), it contains caffeine, which will draw water out of those areas, thus making it seem like weight loss. This is, however, a temporary effect, which is why you have to keep using the cream.
In this regard, it no worse than any other cellulite cream, all of which have temporary effects. And it does do what it says it will. That is, it will help you lose up to an inch, tighten your skin, help with stretch marks, moisturize, and improve the appearance of your cellulite.
- Understanding What Avon Cellulite Cream Won't Do
There is no cellulite cream on the planet which permanently gets rid of cellulite. Despite what some people have said, although avon's cellulite cream does work, it does not 'melt' fat. It just removes the excess water from that part of your body, making you appear slimmer (in the same way that body wraps and other topical treatments, and many fad diets, work). It is primarily the caffeine in it which will do this. As such, this cream represents quite an affordable way to use caffeine, short of rubbing wet coffee grounds on your skin, which can be messy, won't moisturize you, and won't have any benefit on stretch marks. Most other cellulite creams are quite expensive compared to Avon's.
In summary, Avon Cellulite Cream
- works superficially on cellulite, but is not a 'cure'
- removes excess water, but won't 'melt' fat
- will improve the appearance of cellulite for as long as you use it
- is affordable compared to similar products on the market
- didn't work on those who didn't follow the instructions. Needs a time commitment, of 5 minutes twice a day, to massage into your problem areas. This is true of all these types of creams - they need regular, daily use.
Conclusion
Avon cellulite cream can help improve the look of your cellulite, making it a great addition when you are going to the beach a lot, or have a date/function/party that you want to improve your legs and butt for. It's not a 'miracle cure' but it is an effective quick fix. The only caveat is that you have to use it as directed. If you don't use it twice daily, you won't see results, plain and simple.
It comes in a good sized bottle, and is priced at $17, though you can often get it for as cheap as $10. And Avon often has many specials on top of that.
